Other comments about the hotel: Very kind staff with smiles on their faces all the time. Starlight restaurant is great, atmosphere and cuisine. Beach is small and sand is sharp, not good for children to play on. But the bay is great for snorkeling, with variaties of fishes and some coral, actinia. Facilities are acceptable, since only traditional Thai wooden houses provided. Most unhappy: The safe provided is extremely complicated to operate and force you to give it up. I leave wallet in the safe unlocked, and I checked it when I got to Koh Samui the next day, found one of the two USD 100 notes missing, if Thai baht notes missing unknown, since no exact count. I did not contact Charm Churee for this, it s just no use, since I had no prove, and I did leave the safe open. The lesson is always lock safe, no matter how complicated it is:)Hope Charm Churee might replace their safes with easy-to-use ones, like the ones of Samui Paradise Chaweng, in which hotel I spent 3 days this time. The food was great, the staff were ever so friendly and helpful and we certainly enjoyed all the extras such as the free snorkelling equipment on the beach (and what a beach!).Being able to hire ATVs right from the hotel at a very competitive price was brilliant too.We had a fantastic time in Koh Tao staying at Charm Churee. I have been to Thailand 5 times in the past 4 years and know the islands very well and Charm Churee is my favourite.I love this hotel so much that I recently got married at the resort and it was beyond expectations..it was perfect.The entire staff are remarkably special people - they are freindly, helpful and you leave there not only with fond memories but also new friends.I will continue to return to this amazing place every year to celecbrate my annaversary.P.S. for a couple looking for a romantic spot book room 34 on the rocks....the most stunning room! Other comments about the hotel: In the web site, the hotel seems to be beautiful, the room s pictures were so nice... but is not the reality ! the bugalow are very old , the recoration is kitch , the bathroom are old fashion. and the rate are very expensive regardind the quality of service and the amenities. we ve paid 3500bath for a simple bedroom! it s very expensive for koh Tao, at this price we expect to have more luxe. Everything are dark, no light, to many trees outside. we have to walk long time to go to the beach, the sun deck are very old , also the towels, (there are no POOL). The staff don t speack english, ( birman staff). and the prise at the restaurant are very expensive ( order Thai food 1200bath/2 pers), it s better to go to eat outsite , only 10 min from the pier,( use the small road).We definitly don t recommand this hotel ! Other comments about the hotel: We went there out of season and the staff and the location were excellent. We originally booked a beach cottage but didn´t like this quite small and dark cottage very much. So we asked for a Sunset Cottage which was fabulous with a stunning sunset view and enough space for a family. The hotel is in a beautiful small bay and we were all stunned by the amazing snorkelling. Would go definitely back there. We paid 100 Euro (low season) for the night and experienced the following: No fins allowed for snorkling (as coral protection measurement), rooms designed with dark wood and almost no light (much too dark), rooms actually fairly old, doors from the open air bathroom to the sleeping room were not closing properly enough for keeping insects out, cockroach on the minibar menue, no pool, beach is a bit of a up/down walk as everything in that accomodation (which was not a problem for us, but may still be worth mentioning), rooms smelly, it felt a bit like provisional . The breakfast was ok, but on the wooden mat used for your plate, small insects were busy removing the meal from your predecessor...One more to mention: Yes, they offer wifi internet (which only works at the reception), but they ve blocked any ports except www (so no ssh, vpn...).So: When they say rustic , they really mean it :) And it s ok, but not for that amount of money! Other comments about the hotel: It was love on second sight!The care of the staff towards their guests was very individual and overwhelming.Many thanks to the Burmese Staff, they are making their job better and more enthusiastically then anybody I have seen before.The resort is set in a beautiful hidden bay, that reminds to the Maldives.The old bungalows seem a bit run down, but still they´ve got a charming character. The resort management is intending to open the Bamboo Villas next year, which are belonging to the same resort. We just loved it!Dont expect 7 star city slick and polish, do expect a great holiday with happy friendly staff, charming rustic apartments, beautifully appointed, lots of little extras,good aircon in bed rooms (must have!) lovely private outdoor bathroom (or another inside if you prefer) Ours also had stair way down to sea and amazing snorkelling. A nice walk to ferry wharves and good size village, plenty of shops, restaurants etc. Contrary to what we were told there are vehicles,motor bikes and 4 wheelers for hire and taxi utes everywhere. Every sort of accomodation, medical help (but not hospital)Hotel has small safe special little beach swarming with fish. At night you can have candle lit dinner right there on the beach.
